Position Description

Overview: This position is responsible for the management of the
Cowichan Agriculture Training pro

ject. This position will coordinate
all the activities related to the project and will be a full time,
contract staff position for one year.

Duties: This position will be accountable for the following:

Project Management:
• Coordinate all deliverables including setting up project timeline and budget
• Supervise all participants including creating individual work plans,
supervising work performance, providing training, mentorship, and
feedback
• Market and promote the project
• Organize all work placement trainings and field trips
• Plan, organize, and implement all project deliverables

Finance:
• Assist with managing the project budget including preparation of:
• monthly reporting
• expenditure tracking
• invoice and payment processing
• final report

Communications:
• Communicate clearly with participants, consultants, farm partners, and staff.
• Keep the Manager fully informed on the status of the project deliverables.

Marketing:
• Design and/or update all marketing materials including:
• Web page updates
• Blogs/articles
• Posters
• Advertisements
• Media Releases
• Set up a marketing strategy with timelines consistent with program
deliverables.

Other:
• Perform other duties as required by the Manager.

Experience and Knowledge:
• Extensive skills and knowledge in agriculture practices including
permaculture, horticulture, edible landscaping, composting, etc.
• Certificate/diploma from a recognized agriculture, permaculture
and/or horticulture training facility.
• Strong marketing and small business skills and experience.
• Proven facilitation, communication, and workshop leadership skills.
• Workable knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Quickbooks, and the Internet.
• Two or more years of work at a community non-profit organization.

program and engage community.
• Volunteer Supervision: Works cooperatively and effectively with
others to engage and inspire volunteers to assist with programs.
• Organizational Skills: Sets priorities, develops a work schedule,
monitors progress towards goals, and tracks details, data, information
and activities.
• Problem Solving: Assesses problem situations to identify causes,
gathers and processes relevant information, generates possible
solutions, and makes recommendations to the Executive Director and/or
resolves the problem.

Working Conditions:
• This employee will work in an office environment as well as outside
at project locations.
• This employee will work on a fulltime basis of 35 hours paid hours
per week, with occasional evenings and weekends for the duration of
the contract – estimated to be April 6, 2015 to April 1 2016.
