Barwon Health requires a Consultant Psychiatrist for part time sessions at Geelong Hospital.

Regional Victoria’s largest health service located in Geelong – a picturesque city on Corio Bay with the city of Melbourne being just 45 minutes away by road – has a vacancy for a Consultant Psychiatrist 1.5 days per week (21 hours/fortnight plus occasional on-call) to work with our Primary Mental Health Team.
The position also offers ample opportunities for additional private practice.
The post is based in our Primary Mental Health Team which is co-located with the GP Association of Geelong in Geelong’s CBD and in Belmont.
The team comprises 5 Credentialed GP Mental Health Nurses, our Clozapine Service which cares for over 250 patients and our newly established perinatal mental health service.
The position would suit a passionate, experienced and committed psychiatrist who would like to relocate to the beautiful Bellarine Peninsular in Victoria, working part time to support an active and enthusiastic primary mental health team.
The psychiatrist will provide a clinical lead to the multidisciplinary mental health team and will provide innovative clinical services supported by Medicare to patients referred by their GP.

Barwon Health Mental Health Services has a 32-bed acute inpatient unit and a 6-bed PARC facility. There is also a private psychiatric hospital in the region with ample opportunity for private practice.

Applicants must hold the FRANZCP or MRCPsych(UK) and be an accredited as a supervisor by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, and be registered or eligible for general or specialist medical registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Applicants who do not fulfill these criteria will not be considered.
Rate of pay is as per the Victorian AMA Heads of Agreement 2009.
