Diabetes

sweet taste of urine from affected individuals, and for many centuries to come,

Sushruta in the 15th AD recognized the sweetness of urine of those
suffering from the disease. In the 18th century, Dobson discovered
the presence of sugar in the urine. Thomas Wills coined the complete term
“diabetes mellitus” in 1674. Wills described the urine of diabetic as mellitus,
a Latin word for honey. Ancient Hindu writings, many years old document how
black ants and flies were attracted to urine of diabetic (Osuola, 2002).
