opportunity for a “Computer Technician”who willassist with our
flagship Share-IT program. The Share-IT is a national award winning
program that provides refurbished computers to families in need while
recycling unusable equipme
nt in a socially and environmentally safe
manner (http://www.share-it.ca).
This position is suitable for high school students or early college
graduates with a strong interest in computers.
Internship Duration : July 2nd to Aug 29th 2014
Candidates must complete 2 weeks (40 hours) of unpaid training. Based
on successful completion of the training and the performance during
the training period, candidates will be eligible for an extended 6
weeks (35 hours/week) of paid internship opportunity.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform hardware and software diagnostic tests to assess reusability
of computers
• Refurbish computers as per prescribed standard
• Disassemble computers, and sort the parts and peripherals as per
guidelines and safety standards
• Maintain database of equipment assessed and dismantled
• Perform relevant tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
• Interest in computer assessment and refurbishing
• Cheerful positive personality with willingness to learn
• Hands-on person with dexterity skills
• Punctual with a sense of ownership and accountability
• Self-motivated with ability to work well individually and in a team
environment
• Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
• Good communication and people skills
• Ability to work in a small team with people from diverse cultures
• Ability to perform with minimal supervision
• Ability to understand guidelines and follow instructions
Eligibility:
• between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
• registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year
and intend to return to school on a full-time basis during the next
academic year
• a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee
protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee
Protection Act; and
• legally entitled to work
