Chief of Party (COP) Job Vacancy in Uganda at Abt Associates

Abt Associates, an international development organization composed of a multi-disciplinary group of dedicated professionals who provide technical assistance, research, analysis, and practical training services in more than 128 countries, seeks candidates for an upcoming USAID-funded project in Uganda focused on expanding access to, utilization, and integration of HIV/ AIDS, TB and malaria prevention, treatment, care and support activities along with maternal, reproductive and child health programs in Northern Uganda. All positions would be in Gulu district. Please note, all positions are contingent on successful award of a proposal. _
Chief of Party (COP)
The COP is responsible for guiding senior technical staff and ensuring the responsiveness and quality of the work being completed, as well as the efficient utilization of resources and achievement of results. Specific duties and responsibilities include the following:
• Provides leadership, management and strategic direction to all project activities to ensure efficient use of resources and achievement of project and client expectations. Supervises senior technical staff and builds project team to ensure responsiveness and quality of all project work
• Clarifies roles and delegates responsibilities to senior staff, communicating expectations for work and contribution to project activities
• Establishes and maintains close working relationships, partnerships and coordination with the Government of Uganda, Ministry of Health (MOH) at all levels, partners, other key stakeholders, and the media, as appropriate.
• Ensures that project office employs appropriate staff and builds robust internal controls for financial management, stock and logistics management, human resource and administration management.

Job requirement

Qualifications
• Masters Degree (minimum), in public health management, public
administration, international development, or related discipline is
required. •
• 13-15 years of senior level experience working in public health in developing or transitional countries with at least eight years of experience in a management position for a public Health development program, preferably in East Africa. Experience running integrated health programs strongly preferred.
• Experience in health systems strengthening at the district and community levels strongly preferred.
• Experience expanding access and utilization of quality services including maternal and reproductive health, child health, HIWAIDS prevention and treatment, tuberculosis and malaria prevention and control, especially in Africa.
• Demonstrated ability to work productively, proactively, and comfortably with senior colleagues from government agencies, NGOs, private sector groups. USA1D and other donors.
• Fluency in English required.
