CHAI Community Services Mentor, Bomi Decentralization Program Job Vacancy in Liberia

Overview:
CHAI is seeking an experienced community services mentor with solid background in community program planning and implementing effective and sustainable community-based interventions, preferably focused on
improving maternal and child health .

Location: Liberia

Responsibilities:
Support CHT in day-to-day maternal and child health services
• Participate in health planning and assessment of maternal and child health needs in the county.
• Together with the Community Health Department Director, Reproductive Health Supervisor and Child Survival Supervisor, train TTMs, gCHVs and CHCs on the importance of ANC visits and Post Natal Care, Essential Newborn Care including recognition of the danger signs during pregnancy and the post partum stages.
• Facilitate quarterly meetings between CHT, TTMs, community leaders, CHCs and gCHVs;
• Participate actively in the monthly planning of supervision and monitoring activities, monthly debriefing, and reports with action plans and propositions.
• Ensure communication between the Reproductive Health Supervisor, Child Survival Supervisor, health facility and the TTM, CHAI and CHT particularly in regards to the work plan information sharing and action plan items.
• Establish a recording and reporting mechanism for community ANC and delivery referrals to the referral centres or health facilities.
• Collect relevant data and report to the CHT/CHAI Field Coordinator on regular basis and when requested.
• In collaboration with the CHT Reproductive Health Supervisor, Child Survival Supervisor and Community Health department Director, select and supervise the CHCs, gCHVs and TTMs on weekly and monthly basis.

Support to TTMS, gCHVs and CHCs
• Collaborate with TTM, CHCs and gCHVs to identify and implement innovative and effective community engagement strategies to address maternal and child mortality .
• Support community-based interventions for prevention and management of complications related to pregnancy, labour as well as neonates.
• Support TTM, CHC and gCHVs to improve referral linkages among the health facilities and community interventions.
• Together with CHDD, design a supervision system that links TTMs & gCHVs to the facilities.

Mentoring
• Plan, organize and facilitate training and mentoring of the CHCs, gCHVs and TTMs together with CHT Reproductive Health Supervisor, Child Survival Supervisors and CHAI Clinical and Pediatric Mentors.
• Together with the MCH and Child Survival supervisor, mentor and support the CHVs, CHCs and TTMs in the collection of the monthly home-based ANC and PNC data and reports.
• Provide mentoring on clean and safe delivery at health facility.
• Provide mentoring on practical emergency obstetric and neonatal services at health facilities based on the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

Other responsibilities
• Provide written and concise reports for all the training and supervision visits undertaken.
• Regular interactions and teamwork with CHT, especially CHDD, RH supervisor, Child Survival Supervisor, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, and Data Clerks.
• Perform any other tasks as required by line manager or technical manager.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications and Skills:
• At least two years experience in community health activities and working through community health structures.
• Understanding of maternal, newborn and child health services priorities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong leadership, project and people coordination skills.
• Experience in mentoring and conducting small and large-scale trainings.
• Highly motivated individual committed to the success of the program.
• Resourceful, with ability to work under pressure and a problem-solving attitude.
• Self-driven, with ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the county.
• Intermediate level computer skills using MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook.

Desired Qualifications:
• Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant, Certified Nurse in Public Health , with strong community focus and reproductive health experience.
• Any other clinical qualification will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge and understanding of local culture is a plus.
