CORPORATE
COMPLIANCE OFFICER/SPECIALIST -PRINCIPAL OFFICE

Applicants are
invited from suitably qualified employees for the position of Corporate Compliance
Officer/Specialist.
The purpose of this role is to provide
support and monitor regulatory compliance programs

with BLIL Agents through
training and sharing information as well as ensuring that the business
processes are compliant with Regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Key
Performance Areas

  • Develop
    and maintain policies and procedures for the general operation of the
    compliance program to prevent and monitor unethical, illegal or improper
    conduct
  • Provide
    compliance support to Agents on all the financial services laws including
    among others Insurance Industry Act, NBFIRA Act, Financial Intelligence
    Act, Income Tax Act, and all the regulatory universe
  • Conduct
    compliance audits periodically to assess levels of compliance against the
    established regulatory requirements in order to ensure continuity of
    corporate agencies business
  • Identify
    and manage risks in accordance with the company’s risk management
    policiesDevelop and periodically review and update standards or codes of
    conduct to ensure continuing currency and relevance in providing guidance
    to stakeholders
  • Compile
    and provide reports on regular basis and as directed and requested to
    inform senior management of the operations and progress of compliance
    efforts and Regulatory issues
  • Monitor
    adherence to compliance service level agreements between Botswana life and
    Agents
  • Respond
    to alleged violations of regulatory rules and standards of conduct and
    initiate investigative procedures and apply remedial action
  • Plan
    and deliver compliance training and workshops on regulatory practices,
    requirements and industry standards
  • Collaborates
    with Sales department to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing
    channels for investigation and resolution

Education
A Degree LLB or Degree in Business administration or related field, eg, Risk
Management. Insurance qualification – Licenciate/Associate of IISA and
Compliance Management will be an added advantage

Background
Experience

  • 4
    years’ experience in a Financial Sector. (especially insurance industry)
  • In-depth
    knowledge of Financial Services laws governing Insurance Industry
  • Strong
    technical background in Compliance Management and insurance knowledge.
    Strong communication, influential skills, interpersonal skills and
    stakeholder management skills
