To lead the statutory reporting work within the Financial Control team. To
manage & coordinate the work of the Financial Control Accountants by ensuring
financial control accountants work is completed efficiently and financial
records are correctly maintained with sufficient rigour and control.

• Review
  financial statements, financial reports, special data analysis, and ad hoc
  Information reports.
• Attend
  regular accounting updates and conform to all newly accepted accounting
  standards.
• Review
  elimination and reporting of internal balances to Absa Group and to
  Barclays prepared by junior staff members.
• Where
  standard systems and tools do not meet reporting/analysis/forecasting
• Requirements
  of the business investigate alternative solutions and make comprehensive
  recommendations.
• Ensure
  systems are maintained in accordance with IFRS, GAAP and Generally Accepted
  Auditing Standards.
• Establish
  and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards in Line with Absa
  Group requirements.
• Comply
  and adhere to tax regulations and regulatory compliance to properly
  reflect the financial position of the business unit.
• Act
  as a subject matter expert by frequently communicating financial policies,
  procedures, standards and guidelines in the cluster and BU finance teams
  and the broader business unit.
• Effectively
  monitor and apply control activities to ensure proper financial control
  and discipline within the cluster.
• Ensure
  the production of timely, reliable and complete financial information to
  meet the various needs of the senior management, regulatory authorities,
  and government agencies.
• Review
  analyses performed by junior staff members to ensure the Rest of Africa
  P&L is correctly and consistently presented across our various
  business areas.
• Review
  analyses performed by staff members to ensure correctness of the annual
  report balance sheet and P&L disclosures.
• Review
  analyses performed by staff members that explains the Rest of Africa
  Statutory Income Statement to management, Group Finance, Barcap, Barclays
  PLC, analysts and other interested stakeholders.
• Perform
  certain complex analyses to ensure P&L is correctly reported, the
  annual report is correctly disclosed and supplementary schedules are
  correctly completed.
• Assist
  the Head of Rest of Africa Financial Control in continuously evaluating
  the control framework in Rest of Africa Financial Control and enhance it
  as appropriate.

  levels.
• Ability
  to work in a pressured, unstructured environment and to cope well with the
  demands of working to meeting tight deadlines.

  report writing and presentation skills.
• Excellent
  investment banking product knowledge

• Accounting
  qualification – ACA, ACCA or CIMA
• The
  jobholder must have substantial directly relevant experience in a
  technical financial environment
• Financial
  Accounting – experience of financial management
