Global is seeking a mid- to senior-level Local Gender Specialist for an
upcoming consultancy on a USAID task order focused on agriculture and food
systems in Rwanda. The objective of the task order is to sustainably increase
smallholder farmer incomes, improve the nutritional status of Rwandan women and
children, and increase the resilience of the agriculture and food system to the
changing climate.

Ideal
candidates will have a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in both gender
integration and agricultural development, as well as direct experience in Rwanda
and/or the East Africa region and experience working on USAID or Feed the
Future projects. The consultant will work closely with the project team and
liaise with and report to the Banyan Global technical project manager in
Washington DC. Duties and responsibilities for the position include:

in all project activities;

Design and conduct a USAID project gender analysis with key findings and
actionable recommendations to guide the project;

Lead key informant interviews, consultations, and focus group discussions with
USAID, implementing partners, stakeholders, country gender and sectoral
experts, civil society actors, and USAID beneficiaries and/or potential
beneficiaries to collect qualitative data;

Requirements:

Advanced degree in international development, international affairs, gender or
related field. Preferred academic focus on gender;

8 or more years of experience working in gender integration and women’s
empowerment programming;

Two or more years of direct experience in Rwanda and/or the East Africa region;

Experience designing and conducting gender analyses, including familiarity with
qualitative data techniques and gender analysis methodologies, including
participatory approaches;

Familiarity with USAID program cycle and USAID Gender Policies, including

Strong communications and effective report-writing skills;

This
position is contingent upon award and funding. Compensation is commensurate
