modern purpose-built laboratory was commissioned in April 2014 at 197 Briens
Road, Northmead. The laboratory is within walking distance of Westmead Private
and Public Hospitals (approximately

full time position is available for a Technical – Scientific
Trainee to work in our Laboratory. In addition to
diagnostic work the laboratory is involved with research and staff members are
encouraged to participate in the research projects. This exciting position

successful applicant will be required to participate in a rotating roster (6 am
to 8 pm, Monday to Friday) undertaking all aspects of laboratory duties.

- Specimen
reception. - Specimen
cut up. - Sectioning
and staining. - Immunohistochemistry
and special stains. - Frozen
sections. - Processing
of cytological specimens and liaison with other laboratories. - Assisting
at fine needle biopsy, core biopsy and skin biopsy of patients. - Maintenance
of equipment; etc.
Skills
Require:
Require:
- An
appropriate qualification in a scientific field relevant to
Pathology. - Technical/Laboratory
working experience is desirable. - A
professional work ethic. - Attention
to detail. - Touch
typing. - Team
player with effective communication. - Excellent
manual dexterity. - Customer
service orientated. - Friendly
attitude. - Willingness
to learn the specific laboratory techniques.
