overall goal of ARC’s program in Rwanda is to improve the well-being and
self-reliance of the displaced refugee population from eastern DRC and Burundi
by ensuring the provision of basic services (adequate health care &
nutrition, shelter, water, sanitation & hygiene, HIV/AIDS prevention &
treatment), improving food security and enabling economic recovery in six
refugee camps located in Rwanda.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The
Cook/Cleaner will be responsible for performing general cooking and cleaning
and upkeep of assigned area within a specific building. Specific tasks are not
guaranteed, therefore, must be flexible in performing assigned duties as
outlined below.

- Prepare
meals in healthy and hygienic manner for ARC Site Manager, staff and
guests as needed - Responsible
for all household and/or ARC office cleaning - Plan
meals on weekly basis - Ensure
there is an adequate amount of food for meals - Prepare
a shopping food list once a week, at least a day before purchasing date - Minimize
wasting food by monitoring food usage (using leftovers where appropriate,
storing food properly - Ensure
back-up cook is following the above in your absence - Laundry
Clean - Report
and request any maintenance/repairs and missing water/electricity - Always
stock enough water to prevent water shortage
- Other
appropriate duties as assigned by the supervisor
EDUCATION,
TECHNICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
TECHNICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- D3
of secondary school required; high school diploma or equivalent desired - Skills
and good understanding of the use, handling and storing of cleaning
materials - Excellent
knowledge of hygiene promotion in kitchen - Prior
experience as chef/cook in restaurant or local hotels
