Salary: $1800 per month (meals and accommodation included)

The Algonquin Wildlife Research Station in Algonquin Provincial Park will be hiring for the position of Assistant Manager. The contract of employment will be at minimum from April 23 until 07 September, 2012,
with a possible extension into October. All meals and accommodation (semi-private lakeside cabin) will be provided.
The duties of the Assistant Manager are varied, and will include:
• Maintaining buildings, research areas, and equipment (e.g. repairs and renovations, plumbing, construction, painting, cleaning, brush removal, etc.)
• Providing logistical support for research projects
• Opening and winterizing seasonal buildings and equipment
• Working with the Manager to ensure efficient operations in all aspects of the research station
• Organize and conduct Frog Watch Monitoring Program
• Assist Manager in organization of special events such as Meet the Researcher Day and Workshops
Ideally, the successful applicant will have some experience with maintenance, renovations, or construction, and would benefit from an interest in biological research. Other qualifications should include:
• Valid Driver’s License
• Mechanical aptitude and organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• An appreciation for the outdoors
• Physically fit, a strong work ethic and willing to work outside in varied weather conditions
This is an excellent opportunity to live and work at a well-known research station in a unique provincial park. Spare time can be spent in the Wildlife Research Area, and the highway 60 corridor of Algonquin Park which has many hiking trails and facilities. Canoes and hiking trails are available for use on the station property. All meals will be provided by full-time cooks and served in a communal atmosphere.
