Officer: Research and Policy

Six Month Contract

Location: 915– 33 Street NE, Calgary,
Alberta

Alberta Association
of Immigrant Serving Agencies (AAISA) is a provincial association facilitating
collaboration and leadership within the settlement and integration-serving
sector to support the integration of newcomers into Alberta society. AAISA
addresses the needs of newcomers to Alberta by providing services to the
integration and settlement agencies that serve them across the province. AAISA
represents 19 integration and settlement agencies across the province with over
a thousand employees working in urban and rural communities across Alberta.

Main Duties

• Collect,
  research and report emerging issues in the sector in the form of research
  publications on behalf of AAISA
• Coordinate
  and facilitate project-specific focus groups
• Assist
  Research and Policy Project Coordinator in research-specific projects and
  contribute to the successful oversight of research endeavors
• Contribute
  to the planning and operation of new collaborative research initiatives
  with member agencies, post-secondary institutions, non-profit
  organizations, etc.
• Participates
  in the assessment and initiates the process for external research
  activities
• Assists
  in the preparation of annual reports and final statements to various
  funding agencies
• Participate
  in the planning and development of the research library
• Other
  projects as assigned by the Provincial Manager

Qualifications

• Post-secondary
  degree in in the social sciences: Public Administration, Public Policy,
  Sociology
• Experience
  in a related research/policy field
• Strong
  analytical skills and detail oriented
• Experience
  with quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
• Ability
  to collect data, interpret patterns and provide suggested action plans
• Knowledge
  of data processing, graphing, statistical analysis and reporting
• Project
  management experience
• Strong
  knowledge of computer applications (Microsoft applications) and
  specialized statistical software
• Ability
  to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
• Ability
  to discuss opportunities and communicate with senior staff, committees and
  board
