ABO Blood System

The ABO system it
the most important blood system in blood transfusion and organ transplantation
works, because
i.                    
Strongly reacting antibodies are
present in the serum of individual who lack the corresponding antigens, and.

ii.                  
A and B antigens are present on many
tissue cells a in the red cells.
The ABO system
classified the blood groups into four (4) major blood types depending presence
or absence of two antigens A and B. when neither A nor B antigen is present,
the blood type is O. when only antigen B is present, the blood type B and when
both A and B antigens and present, the blood type is AB (Abayomi, 2007).
