La Siembra Co-operative, creator of the Camino brand of fair trade and organic food products, is currently looking for an experienced sales analyst to join its Sales and Distribution Team. Reporting to the Sales and Distribution Manager, the Sales Analyst works as the beating heart of the team. Key to the Sales Analyst’s success is the ability to effectively respond to information needs of the members of the Sales and Distribution team as well as the ability to pro-actively create information that accelerates growth of Camino products in existing and new markets, distribution channels and product categories.
The ideal candidate has a demonstrated passion for numbers, excels in the use of MS Excel, enjoys a high workload in a rapidly developing work environment, has excellent communication skills and shares our vision for development of alternative food supply chains and our belief in the principles of fair trade and the cooperative movement.
Responsibilities
1. Business analysis
• Analysis of existing and potential strategies (e.g. pricing strategies) for gross profit optimization;
• Net revenue analysis for key accounts ;
• Building data sets to inform planning, decision-making and forecasting based on existing and new data sources;
• Budget to performance analysis ;
• Analysis of competitor strategies;
• Analysis of identified new opportunities, e.g. analyzing initial investment required for market/channel entry, analyzing price and cost structures of new markets/channels.
2. Business development
• In collaboration with the sales manager (and top management where applicable), identifying and researching potential opportunities for business development;
• Elaborating potential strategies for entry into new markets, distribution channels, or major accounts for consideration by the sales manager (and top management where applicable);
• Supporting the sales manager and/or other members of the sales team in the execution and implementation of these strategies.
3. Further development of La Siembra’s Management Information infrastructure
• Learning and suggesting ways to better utilize La Siembra’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for business analysis (e.g. report writing);
• Working with the Management Team — especially the Operations, production & inventory manager and the Finance manager — to co-ordinate & place business analysis activities within a comprehensive Management Information System at La Siembra.
4. Administrative tasks or functions in support of business analysis and development
• Coding of expenses billed back by distributors for promotions and discounts;
• Maintaining accurate listings in external databases (e.g. ECCnet) and supporting the completion of listing submissions to mass market accounts and distributors;
• Assistance with development of promotional calendars, promotional submissions, etc.;
Requirements for the position:
• Relevant University degree;
• 3-5 years of experience as Sales Analyst (or role with similar functions) in a wholesale context;
• Proven ability to develop reports, create and manipulate large data sets and build analytical models to derive conclusions relevant for e.g. developing pricing structures and strategies, developing sales promotion strategies etc.;
• Significant experience with purchasing processes, procedures and practices of Canada’s major retail chains;
• Experience in working with an Enterprise Resource Planning system (e.g. Minotaur, SAP, etc.);
• Exceptionally skilled in the use of MS Excel;
• Excellent communication skills and service oriented mind set;
• Excellent team player in a high paced and cooperative environment.
