community service organisation based in Orange and operating throughout the
Central West, Riverina Murray and Orana and Far West regions of NSW. Our
mission is to sustain and enhance the independence and quality of life of
people who experience barriers to community participation.

CareWest’s Child & Family Services provide support to a diverse group of
clients across the Orana Far West, Central West and Riverina Murray regions of
NSW. Child & Family Services is primarily concerned with providing children
and their families’ opportunities to overcome obstacles to participation within
their communities. The key projects undertaken by the Service include CareWest
Preschools, Early Start Early Diagnosis Program, Supporting Children with
Additional Needs, Preschool Investment Reform Program, Intensive Family Support
and Indigenous Language Support Projects.

We are currently seeking a Project Officer based in Orange focusing on
Supporting Children with Additional Needs (SCAN). This is a part time role
(four days per week) to be offered as an eleven month contract. The primary
responsibilities of this role include:

  • Co-ordinating the overall
    operation of SCAN in the Central West region of NSW
  • Utilising funds provided
    through State funding agreements to deliver the maximum benefit to
    eligible children and their families
  • Allocating brokerage funds
    based on needs of children
  • Developing and maintaining
    positive partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Reviewing and evaluating
    service performance
  • Completing reporting
    documentation
  • Planning and organising
    training for early childhood services as needed
The ideal candidate will have
demonstrated experience working with children with additional needs (0-6
years), high level communication and interpersonal skills as well as a current
driver’s licence and preparedness to travel throughout the Central West region.
Qualifications in special education and experience in program development and
management would be an advantage.
