Corporation is currently seeking an experienced Roading Crew member in the
Narrabri area. The successful candidate will be a motivated, self starter that
will take responsibility for:

Narrabri area. The successful candidate will be a motivated, self starter that
will take responsibility for:
- Undertaking road works and other operations to
meet defined standards and reach performance targets in timely manner. - Work with FCNSW contractors to improve performance
& efficiency. - Assist planning, scheduling and monitoring of
road works. - Operate plant & equipment (eg chainsaw,
tanker, FEL/truck/grader).

environment, they will also ideally possess the following skills,
qualifications and experience:

- Ability to work effectively as part of a team yet
with a high level of independence. - Ability to readily recognise an array of dynamic
priorities and, in the context of day-to-day circumstances, effectively
balance them through planning and adjusting activities to meet deadlines
& expected standards. - Capacity and willingness to undertake fire
fighting and extensive travel (mainly driving), work extended hours, and
to maintain sufficient fitness for the job (eg able to efficiently conduct
reconnaissance / investigation through difficult terrain and dense
vegetation). - Developed negotiation, interpersonal and
communication skills to deal with stakeholders involved with the position
(including staff, contractors, industry, neighbours, government regulators
and the community). - Solid experience in all aspects of forest
operations including operational considerations and supervisory
responsibilities – able to readily understand and implement operating
rules (eg in operational plans, codes, etc) and technical guidelines. - A practical understanding of native forest
management. In particular: (a) road maintenance and construction
techniques, and the operational capabilities of roadwork and harvesting
machinery. Also including: (b) silviculture, fire and grazing management,
weed and pest animal control, soil dispersibility assessment, and cultural
heritage management, (c) the procedural requirements relating to use of
chemicals, use of fire, and occupation of forest areas, and (d) occupation
authorisation conditions (such as grazing occupation permits and access
& compensation agreements). - Good technical skills in: (a) map reading,
navigation, GPS usage, (b) computer usage, literacy, numeracy, problem
solving and (c) and plant / animal / habitat identification and survey,
and mark-up (including competent / efficient stocking and basal area
determination, tree selection and boundary identification). - Skilled in competent and efficient operation of
plant (particularly tanker, grader, FEL, truck) and equipment
(particularly chainsaw).
