About the team
Whether evaluating strategic options, new ventures or existing operations,
modelling is an integral part of the strategic and operational decision making
process in the private and public sectors. Our specialist modelling team
simulates and tests business options, and enhances understanding of the risks
and returns of projects, transactions or processes for Australia’s leading
companies and for Government projects. Our Services are backed by exceptional
technical and commercial expertise and generate confidence in the decision
making process.
About the role
An opportunity exists for one or more exceptional individuals at Analyst level
to help execute a significant pipeline of projects within the Melbourne
marketplace as we continue to expand our Deloitte Business Modelling team here
and across Australia.
As a member our Deloitte Business Modelling team, you will be involved in
developing and testing complex financial and economic models for a range of
Government, listed and private corporates primarily through Microsoft Excel and
related tools. This can include:
Quickly developing an understanding of the target business and its drivers
Interpretation and analysis of financial and economic information
Review and analysis of historical trading, cash flow and balance sheets
Development of financial or economic projections, and underlying assumptions
Analysis of alternative scenarios and sensitivities
Reporting of potential key issues and risks
Assisting in presentations to management and key stakeholders
Our assignments require individuals to adopt a ‘hands on’ approach, taking
responsibility for either discrete modelling work areas or in some instances
the majority of project itself.
Teamwork and client interaction is critical to everything we do.
About your experience
Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate the following:
Excellent academic results with finance/commerce tertiary or post-graduate
qualifications
Proven experience in developing and testing complex financial models
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
Accounting knowledge and skills (within the Big 4 or otherwise) including a
detailed understanding of profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow workings
Competence in macros and knowledge of Visual Basic
Outstanding teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills
A strong desire to challenge yourself and deliver work of the highest quality
A commitment to developing your career within the Deloitte Business Modelling
team
Report writing skills including the use of Word and PowerPoint packages
Although not essential, it would be advantageous to also have:
Chartered Accountant, CFA or similar qualifications
Experience in corporate finance transactions (i.e. Valuations, M&A
advisory, etc.)
Knowledge of the Melbourne and wider Victorian marketplace
