Background
The Rwanda Education Commons (REC) is helping Rwanda expand access to quality education through the effective use of information and communication technologies (ICTs). To achieve this goal, REC is working to develop programming and an online platform that supports a network of education stakeholders. The online platform offers opportunities for this network to collaborate, learn, and share knowledge. Among its online channels, REC facilitate the weekly production of an education program that air on RTV twice a week called smart learning with the support of the Ministry of Education and Rwandan Broadcasting Agency (ORINFOR ). REC wish to extend its production crew with a high skilled and motivated assistant video Producer.

Responsibilities
The Assistant Video Producer will be responsible for ensuring the high quality and relevance of video materials that will be broadcasted on the national television of Rwanda and distributed through the REC web portal and other channels. Specifically, the Assistant Video Producer will:

JOB DESCRIPTION

PRODUCTION DUTIES
• Organizing all the essential support facilities for the shooting team following a schedule designed by the Video Producer and Editor Specialist;
• Resolving the day-to-day problems shooting and coordinating the other activities (e.g., camera, sound, editing, lighting);
• Keep the timeline for production and broadcasting;
• Manage all aspects of the shooting in the absence of the video producer and editor
• Supervise the broadcasting activity if required
• Assist the video producer to keep records of all broadcasted material
• Assist the video producer and editor to Burn CDs

EDITING DUTIES
• • Supervise Shooting & Editing Team
• • Assembling all raw footage, with camera shots either recorded or transferred onto video tape in preparation for inputting into the computer;
• • Inputting uncut rushes and sound, and synchronizing and storing them into files on the computer;
• • Digitally cutting the files to determine the sequence of the film and determining what is usable;
• • Creating a ‘rough cut’ of the program/video documentary and determining the exact cutting for the next and final stages;
• • Re-ordering and tweaking the content to ensure the logical sequencing and smooth running of the film/video.
• • overseeing the quality and progress of audio and video engineering and editing;

QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will hold the following qualifications:
• Experience of 3 years in TV production & Editing
• Good interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of English, or French and Kinyarwanda
• A Degree or Diploma in Communication, education or any related degree given the candidate has relevant TV production and editing experience
• Excellent Team player
• Willing to work under pressure
• Knowledge of editing software Adobe pro and Adobe 5
