SPARK is a growing, young, dynamic development NGO with 80 staff members in offices in Kigali. SPARK develops higher education and entrepreneurship, so that young ambitious people are empowered to lead their
post-conflict society into prosperity.
SPARK is achieving its mission by organising business plan competitions, business skills training, SME coaching & mentoring, business incubation, SME financing, intensive higher vocational summer courses, curriculum development and quality assurance at universities and higher vocational education institutions.
SPARK is currently looking for a:
Research Consultant to conduct a case study on its 2007-2010 Entrepreneurship Promotion and SME Development Programme.
The objectives of this case study are to:
• Identify lessons learnt from the programme about delivery of business development services (BDS) through partner organisations for current and future programmes;
• Identify lessons learnt about SPARK’s internal practices as an organisation in implementing projects;
• Produce a publication which will contribute to the literature on private sector development (PSD) in fragile states.
Requirements and Skills:
• Master’s Degree in Social Science, Economics, International Relations or related field; PhD preferred
• Experience in conducting research on PSD, preferably on delivery of BDS and in fragile states and post-conflict environments
• Thorough knowledge of or experience in the Western Balkan region
• Excellent written English
