World Vision International (Rwanda) is a child focused Christian humanitarian
organization implementing development programs in over 15 Districts of Rwanda.
World Vision seeks to hire a qualified, dedicated and experienced national for
the position of Education Specialist. This is a strategic position based at the
head office — Kigali and reports to the Program Development and Quality
Assurance (PDQA) Director.
The purpose of this position is to lead the development and implementation of
education strategy in World Vision Rwanda, provide technical support to
programmes and projects, and improve the quality of education.
The major responsibilities
include:
• Lead the development &implementation of National Office education
strategy in a specific in alignment with the WV EARO (East African Region
Office) and GC (Global Centers) education strategies, models and indicators.
• Document and leverage the national office best practices in education and
ensure cross fertilization of knowledge in all WVR Programs and Projects.
• Ensure the integration of education interventions with WVR’s other
interventions in health, Peace Building, Water/ Sanitation, food security and
sponsorship.
• Track potential funding opportunities that can contribute to Improve
education In WVR ADPs, National Offices and the net works and advise
appropriate staff on education
• Provide advice and guidance to Zonal Offices and ADPs In drafting and
submitting proposals in alignment with their education needs.
• Build the capacity of program staff in participatory approaches (PRA, AQ PLA)
that engage the community in meaningful discussions on their preferred
direction.
• Facilitate capacity building for educators (from needs assessment/baseline to
training design, conduct of training and impact assessment).
• Participate in the development of monitoring and evaluation systems of the
applied educational curriculum.
• Network and liaise with other national organizations working in the
development and promotion of education. This would Include research and
academic organizations, NGOs networks and foras
• Conduct regular monitoring and reporting for various nationals’ quality
education projects and provide advices for their adjustments if necessary.
Prepare and submit regular progress reports on timely fashion.
• Perform other assignments as delegated by the supervisor. 4
• Attend and participate in weekly chapel services and daily devotional
meetings.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Requirements to Qualify for the
Position:
Master’s degree and in education, plus a bachelor’s degree in education,
social science or other relevant field.
• Can operate Microsoft software applications such as Word, Excel and
PowerPoint
• Fluency in English required.
• Excellent communication skills, both in oral and written forms.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership position responsible for
developing education interventions and the technical aspects related to the
proposed strategy, including student assessment, teacher training, educational
materials/curriculum development, educational management, and educational
monitoring and information systems.
• Experience in basic and secondary education projects.
• Experience working with vulnerable children and their families, preferably in
Rwanda.
Experience working successful with Ministries of Education and other government
agencies, networks of educators, employers’ organizations, or comparable
entities.
• Experience introducing, organizing and managing programs that achieve
results.
• Extensive travel required; must be willing to travel and work for periods of
time to field project sites, including rural sites with few amenities.
• Rwandan nationals are encouraged to apply.
• A mature Christian with evidence of mature faith and who’s willing to serve
in very difficult conditions.
