Dalhousie University invites application for PhD Program in Computational
Mechanics. In order to qualify candidate should
possess a master’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (or a related
engineering discipline). Knowledge of advanced materials would
be an advantage. Preference will be given to the candidates possessing
excellent communication skills. Selected candidates will receive a minimum
amount of $26,000 per annum which covers
TA and other types of scholarships.

Eligibility: To be
eligible, following qualifications are required:

Master’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (or a related engineering discipline.)

A thorough background in mechanics of materials.
– A good working knowledge of FE software the ABAQUS or DYNA-3D and MATLAB is essential.

Knowledge of advanced materials would be an asset (but not necessary)

Minimum required GPA (for both undergraduate and graduate degrees): 78%.
If first language is not English, Dalhousie University requires proof of English proficiency. This requirement can be satisfied with one of the following criteria:
– TOEFL:
minimum score 580 (paper-based), 237 (computer-based)
– IELTS: minimum score 7.0
– MELAB: minimum score 90
-Preference will be given to a candidate with good communication skill.
