SNV Rwanda Local Organisation To Undertake a short term Assignement on Hygiene Promotion

  SNV Rwanda is
looking for a local organization to support in promoting sanitation and hygiene
in four districts of the volcanic region of Rwanda, through strengthening
capacities of Community Facilitators
Starting from July 2014, in partnership with UNICEF,
SNV RWANDA kicked off a 9 month project on Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene
Behaviour Change in Four Districts of Rwanda (Burera, Musanze, Nyabihu and
Rubavu).
An improved hygiene practice in the target communities
of four districts is one of the main objectives of the project as community
sanitation and hygiene behaviour change is still a challenge In the region. It
Is In this regard that SNV Is looking for a Local organization to strengthen
capacities for hygiene promotion In Community, Schools, and Health Centres in
promoting hygiene behaviour change within the targeted communities and sc

hools.


Objectives of the assignment

The specific project objectives Include:
To improve hygiene practices in the target communities
(100,000 households) of four districts – resulting in Increase of hand washing
with soap from 37% (current baseline) to 57% and Improved use of latrines, from
87% to 100%.

Expected results

The Local organization will be responsible of supervision of roll out trainings
of 8,244 members of CHCs by 136 community facilitators. This includes:
  • Organize the roll out trainings (developing a
    monitoring mechanism, logistics, follow up and
    reporting.)           
  • Support CRCs In developing their own hygiene
    promotion plans, monitoring and reporting on the Implementation progress,
    as an outcome of received trainings.
The local organization will be responsible of
promoting adequate hygiene practices through messages on local radios,
religious assemblies, and other Innovative channels that can be proposed by the
LCB.
The Local organization must have at least one Field
Officer in the designated area to undertake and coordinate the assignment.
Estimate duration of the assignment is 6 months.

Qualifications and experience

SNV seeks an experienced local organization with the following profile:
  • Good experience In the WASH sector In Rwanda
  • Proven experience in rural development working
    with local communities In Rwanda.
  • Proven experience In Implementing projects
    related to Hygiene Behaviour Change Communication and capacity development
    in hygiene and sanitation.
