of Rwanda to strengthen the health system and support poverty reduction
initiatives in rural Rwanda since 2005.

PIH/IMB is seeking outstanding
candidates for the following positions. Female candidates are particularly

Position Title: IMB
Women’s Health Program Director
Reports to: IMB
Clinical Director
Location: Rwinkwavu,
Rwanda (with regular travel to Kirehe and Burera Districts)
The Women’s Health
Program Director will be responsible for all programmatic activities and
clinical support provided by IMB in the area of women’s health, including
antenatal care, maternity services, obstetric emergencies, family planning, and
post-abortion care. This position will collaborate with public sector health
authorities and other IMB program leaders to design and implement innovative
public health programming to improve women’s health services at the district
hospital, health center, and community levels in IMB-supported districts.
Additionally, this position will provide technical support to the Ministry of
Health in policy and programming in maternal and child health services and will
be involved in operational research projects in the field of women’s health.
Requirements for the
position:
  • Clinical background as medical
    doctor with specialization in obstetrics/gynecology or family medicine;
    general practitioner; certified nurse or nurse midwife; or other health
    practitioner with public health experience in maternal and child health;
  • At least 2 years experience
    working in Women’s Health or MNCH health program or policy development in
    a resource limited setting;
  • Technical expertise in training
    and implementation of national policies in the areas of antenatal care,
    maternity services, obstetric emergencies, family planning, and
    post-abortion care
  • Interest and enthusiasm for
    non-clinical programmatic development of Women’s Health and MNCH services
  • Experience with operational
    research, preferably in the area of Women’s Health, MNCH or global health
    delivery, and strong data analysis or quantitative skills
  • Training in public health
    including in research and monitoring and evaluation;
  • Leadership experience in a
    non-clinical setting;
  • Strong organizational skills
    including experience with budget development and strategic planning;
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills,
    diplomacy, humility, and a commitment to social justice;
  • Computer skills including
    Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, internet and email;
  • Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda
    is preferred
