Partners in Health (PIH) is an
internationally recognized non-profit organization whose mission is to provide
a preferential option for the poor in health care. Through its service
delivery, training, advocacy and research, PIH works globally to bring the
benefits of modern medical science to those most in need and to serve as an
antidote to despair. In 2005, PIH began working in Rwanda at the invitation of
the Government of Rwanda and is known locally as Inshutimu Buzima (IMB). PIH/IMB began an effort to strengthen the
public health systems in rural Rwanda in three rural districts whose

has built or renovated three hospitals, provided support to nearly 40+ rural
health centers, trained a network of over 4,000 community health workers, and
developed services to address the socioeconomic determinants of disease. Our
sites serve as centers of innovation and education in health care delivery,
tackling implementation challenges from HIV to cancer, in close partnership
with the Ministry of Health and the Rwanda Biomedical Center

General Responsibilities: This position is for
a medical specialist in internal medicine to serve as specialist clinician in
provision of care for NCD/cancer patients at Butaro Hospital. This person
will also play a key role in programmatic implementation of the Butaro Cancer
Center of Excellence, including training and mentoring in NCD/cancer skills and
activities, access to medicines and consumables, implementation of quality
improvement initiatives, application of policies/SOPs, and communications to
other Departments at Butaro District Hospital and IMB clinical programs.
This position will receive opportunities for career development, including
mentorship from an international team of oncology experts, participation in
research activities, and consideration for attendance of international research
conferences and clinical trainings.

Requirements for the position:
- Medical
Degree and specialization in Internal Medicine - Strong
clinical skills and interest in developing knowledge in clinical oncology - Highly
motivated to play a leadership role in cancer care at Butaro Hospital - Understands
and upholds principles of equity and alignment with national priorities in
provision of cancer care in Rwanda - Highly
organized and able to keep track of multiple administrative and clinical
tasks simultaneously - Strong
management, communication, mentoring, teaching and leadership skills.
