reporting, monthly financial statement preparation and operational reporting
under the direction of our Canadian based executives, as well as to assist our

firm’s operations and reporting.
Position
Summary: Manage
finance and accounting systems and report on company activities that will
assist management, its shareholders and other users in making educated economic
decisions about the company’s future. This is a full-time position. Days and
hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening and
weekend work may be required as job duties demand. This position will require regular
travel to our plantations in Rwanda and other East African countries, on an
as-needed basis.

Financial

Operations Management
- Take
responsibility of the accounting functions and supervise company’s
bookkeeping; manage the work performed by the Company’s bookkeeper; - Maintain
regular communications with Canadian based executives; - Work
closely with Canadian based executives and local agronomists developing
and maintaining agriculture reporting to shareholders; - Develop
a system of internal controls for the company’s financial and agricultural
processes as well as its outgrower suppliers; - Support
General Manager with supplier relations; and - Provide
training to finance staff as required.
Funds
Management
Management
- Maintenance
of daily cash forecasting tool, forecast borrowing needs, and available
funds for investment; - Ensure
that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and
capital investment requirements; - Put
in place currency hedging strategies as may be necessary; and - Maintain
banking relationships.
Budgeting
- Manage
the preparation of the company’s budget; - Report
to management on variances from the established budget, and the reasons
for those variances; and - Assist
management in the formulation of its overall strategic direction.
Financial
Analysis
Analysis
- Engage
in benchmarking studies to establish areas of potential operational
improvement; - Interpret
the company’s financial results to management and recommend improvement
activities; - Review
company operations and recommend changes to improve the overall level of
company performance; - Participate
in target costing activities to create products that meet predetermined
price goals; - Compile
key business metrics and report on them to management; - Manage
the capital budgeting process, based on constraint analysis and discounted
cash flow analysis; and - Create
additional analyses and reports as requested by management.
Financial

Reporting
- Preparation
of monthly financial reporting packages as well as agricultural summary
updates; - Preparation
of accounts for year-end financial statements and local tax filings; and - Supervise
preparation of Rwanda revenue filings, and relevant tax compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s
degree in Accounting or Finance is required; - 5+
years of relevant accounting and finance experience in small to mid-size
private companies or ‘Big-4’ public practice; - Professional
accounting designation (preferred); - Excellent
spoken and written English; - Strong
interpersonal skills; - Demonstrated
confidentiality and discretion; - Ability
to multi-task, manage several projects concurrently and deliver to
deadline; - Demonstrated
attention to detail and delivery of accurate, comprehensive work product;
and - Highly
proficient software skills in QuickBooks, Excel, Word. - How
