The
British High Commission (BHC) Kigali works to support the UK Government’s
foreign policy objectives in Rwanda and has a vacancy for a Project Manager
B3.This is a 4 months fixed term contract (part-time) role.
Main
purpose of job:
To
manage and coordinate a British High Commission project to upgrade DFID
properties following recommendations from a Building Hazard Assessment Report
and in line with a plan prepared by the FCO’s estates consolidation project
team.
You
will be supervised by the Regional Technical Works Officer and you will work
also closely with the Estates Manager and Corporate Services Manager.
Key
roles and responsibilities are:
  • Managing
    the day-to-day operational aspects of a project
  • Ensure
    that all elements of the project are delivered on-time, within scope and
    within budget
  • Develop
    a detailed project plan to track progress
  • Monitor
    the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure
    the successful completion of the project
  • Constantly
    monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders
  • Manage
    the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
  • Negotiating
    with suppliers and sub-contractors
  • Review
    the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis
    to ensure that it meets the project standards
  • Liaise
    with Procurement Officer and Project Team in London to ensure required
    tools/materials are procured on time.
  • Reviewing
    the project schedule with senior management and all other staff that will
    be affected by the project activities; revise the schedule as required.
Specific
task to deliver:
Work
with the Regional Technical Works Officer (TWO) and London consolidation
project team to ensure the improvements are implemented for properties in
Kigali.

Skills
/ experience / qualifications required:

Essential on arrival:
  • You
    must have knowledge and awareness of Project Management principles,
    documents and plans. Ideally have a background in business skills,
    management, budgeting and analysis.
  • Should
    have a degree or advanced diploma in project management
  • Should
    have a minimum of 3 years project management experience
  • Ability
    to deliver results on time, on budget, and to the very highest standards.
  • Proven
    working experience as a project administrator in the field of
    construction.
  • Excellent
    client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent
    in written and verbal communication
  • Solid
    organization skills including attention to details and multitasking
  • Fluent
    written and spoken English
  • Critical
    thinking and problem solving skills
  • Planning
    and organizing skills
  • Decision-making
    ability
Desirable:
Fluent
in French or Kinyarwanda
NOTE:
  • All

    abated by an equivalent amount.
