President Muhammadu Buhari has been inaugurated for a second term of office. The inauguration took place on Eagle Square in the Nigerian capital, Abuja.
The inauguration of Wednesday was low-key with the absence of many foreign leaders and former Nigerian presidents.
The government had announced earlier that the event would be low-key as major parts of the event were rescheduled for June 12, which was declared Day of Democracy.
Mr Buhari won the presidential election in February, defeating dozens of other candidates, including the People’s Democratic Party’s main challenger, Atiku Abubakar.
Mr Buhari polled 55.6% of the votes (15,191,847) to defeat Mr Abubakar, who polled 41.2% (11,262,978), according to the electoral commission.
Mr Abubakar challenged the outcome of the court election.
