Introduction to Occupational Health

Occupation is the work you do to earn a living and you
work is supposed to give you some satisfaction.
The essence of occupational Health is to ensure that
the worker is working in a healthy environment. Your place of work is an
important part of man’s environment. And other studies have shown that
physical, chemical and biological agents are found in our working environment.
These agents affect both the health

and working efficiency of the worker. Thus
a healthy working environment promotes the health of the workers and also
brings about high work productivity.

Occupational health is an important aspect of
preventive medicine which covers the following areas;
1.      Promotion and protection of
the workers’ health.
2.      Early diagnosis and prompt
treatment of occupational diseases
3.      Rehabilitation in cases of
disablement.
