Abstract
This family case study is aimed to find out the
causes and prevention of gastric ulcer on a 27 years old lady living with her
family. Gastric ulcer is a break in the normal tissue that lines the stomach.
The causes of gastric ulcer are helicobacter pylori (a bacteria that eat up the
stomach lining), pepsin and acid, and the use of non-steroidal
anti-inflammatory drugs. Its signs and symptoms include heart burn, nausea,
etc. and its prevention includes water sanitation and avoidance of
non-steroidal anti inflammatory drugs on empty stomach. In the course of this
case study, research on related literature was well done and the patient was
managed according to standing order. Home visits were made and problems
identified were solved accordingly. At the end, recommendations were made on
provision of good roads and adequate drainage systems to reduce breeding of
parasites and health workers should pay regular home visits to people and
educate them concerning cleanliness, personal hygiene, good water sanitation and
good nutrition.
