Diagnosis and Prognosis of Whooping Cough


These are skill developed, which enables a health
worker to detect a particular disease he/she is infected with.
·        
By taking client history

·        
By the signs of the  cough,
collection of nasal-pharyngeal swab for culture
·        
Also by a complex blood count (CBC) and serologic test for Bordetella
pertusis bacteria
Prognosis of Whooping Cough
Whooping cough is a severe disease with poor
prognosis, if not treated. It is more serious among the children of low
economical background and those suffering from malnutrition than the children
of the rich or comfortable home.
