This research work covers
all literature and non-literate women of Akwukwu-Igbo, which is the headquarter
of Oshimilli North Local Government Area Delta State of Nigeria. Located in the
Delta North senatorial zone of the state, the people of this region speak Igbo,
which the Igbo indigenes refer to as the Enuani language dialect of Igbo
language. It has a population of about 80,000 people. According to National
Electrical Commission (2006), the occupation of the locals are mainly farming
and fishing. It is made up of several quarters which include Ogbe-Ani,
Ogbe-Onihe, Umu Onai, Ogbe Obi, Ogbe Iyase, Umuekeke, Achala, Umu-Olum, Umu-Opu
and Ogbe Agbor. This land is sometimes called “Land of desert warriors”.
