Strategies to promote the practice of breast self-examination

To effective promote the practice of breast
self-examination, Wodi (2016) suggested that:
·
There is need to develop effective health
education programme to promote breast cancer screening practice for women.
·
Health care providers should develop culturally
based strategies to increase people’s awareness on the importance of early
screening practices by providing specific information on the accessibility of screening
practices.

·
There is a general need to focus on health
promoting behaviours through emphasizing perceived health benefits and
perceived barriers that could lead to better performance of cancer screening
practices.
·
Further studies through international
collaborating effort are needed to develop and evaluate health education
strategies for the target population to promote breast cancer screening
practice.
·
To further promote the practice of breast
self-examination adequate community mobilization should be carried out through
women group such as market women.
·
Husbands should also be educated on the need to
encourage their wives to practice breast self-examination.
·
Non-governmental organisation, the government
and community leaders should work in synergy to promote breast self-examination
among women.
