It takes time and energy to win the
fight against poverty. It also takes a huge amount of financial support. We
depend on a wide range of donors to help fund our emergency relief, development
and campaigning work. And we need you to help us build relationships with them
all.
The role
At the simplest level it’s about
raising funds for Oxfam’s programmes in Liberia. These include life-saving WASH
activities, livelihoods programmes and gender and protection work, with
particular emphasis on women’s rights. To do that effectively you will need to
help develop and implement a funding strategy that generates new funds and new
sources of funding, whilst developing and maintaining good quality and
consistent relationships with current donors. With your knowledge and expertise
you will also support the programme teams in putting together proposals and
concept papers. Plus there’s a role for you to support the teams on contract
management. You will also work closely with an impressive Regional Funding Team
and Country Teams to build skills and capacity, as well as representing Oxfam
to the wider donor community.
The Person
To be successful in this role you
will be someone with a strong background in planning, securing and managing
funds and significant experience in managing donor contracts across a range of
institutional donors, UN agencies and the World Bank. That also means having the
analytical and critical thinking skills to research, analyse and evaluate donor
priorities and funding opportunities in relation to Oxfam’s objectives in
Liberia.
Clearly you’ll be someone with sound
numeracy and financial skills, matched by the ability to develop and present
excellent proposals, and highly developed interpersonal and communication and
relationship skills. But you’ll also need to be highly motivated with the drive
to meet challenging targets and an entrepreneurial approach to fundraising.
Fluency in written and spoken
English is essential for this position.
