Sustrans Volunteer Assistant Press Officer Job Vacancy in Central Bristol

The Sustrans Press Team needs an Assistant Press Officer to help with writing media releases, daily news round-up and articles for external and internal publications including our website.
Sustrans’ Press Office works to raise the profile of Sustrans and generate positive media coverage for its work.

We are looking for an excellent communicator with good writing skills and a knowledge of, and interest in, print and broadcast media to join us one day a week for an exciting new role based with the team in our Head Office in Bristol.

The role will allow a volunteer to:
• write and prepare news releases for issuing to media
• write articles for Sustrans’ publications and website and external publications
• create and update lists of media contacts
• write the daily news round-up to update Sustrans staff on current news stories relevant to our work
• compile and maintain a ‘forward features’ schedule for key publications

The successful volunteer would receive support and management from Sustrans Press Officers, as well as guidance on using Gorkana – our media contacts database.

The role is ideally suited to a graduate looking to pursue a career in PR.
