We are working with UK charity Giving Africa and local partner AEAD to design and oversee construction of a new secondary school in Burkina Faso. The school building will enable AEAD to provide education and skills training as a route out of poverty for Burkina Faso’s next generation.
Want to make a positive impact and build up NGO experience? We are offering a unique opportunity for a volunteer construction professional to oversee the construction delivery of a secondary school in Burkina Faso.
ROLE
– Managing a local contractor and a team of construction workers using local materials.
– Make regular site visits to ensure quality of construction and monitor the programme of delivery.
– Maintain contract records and ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
– Working in a challenging environment.
– Solving problems as they arise on site.
REQUIREMENTS
– Qualified professional with over 5 years of experience in Construction & Construction Management, including at least 3 years on-site experience.
– Proven experience and success working in developing world construction environments.
– Excellent communication and personal skills.
– Fluency in English and French essential.
– Previous experience working in International Development advantageous.

– Start date: March 2012
– Duration: 12 months
– Terms: Volunteer stipend tbc, on site in Burkina Faso.
