The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), a registered UK charity, has managed international postgraduate scholarship programmes for almost 60 years. Most of our work is for external sponsors, including three UK government departments. In all cases, we are committed to helping sponsors meet the objectives of their investment and to providing an excellent service to award holders themselves.
From April 2012, for the first time, the ACU will host the Secretariat for Chevening Scholarships – the global scholarship programme of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Chevening Scholarships are currently awarded to some 700 potential leaders from over 100 countries annually. British Embassies and High Commissions play a central role in this process, and the secretariat needs to ensure that they are fully supported in this.
International Liaison Officers will provide the first point of contact with Embassies in a range of countries. Applicants must demonstrate an understanding of the needs of international students, an interest in higher education and international relations, as well as strong communication skills and a tactful and service orientated approach.
