Registered Orthopaedic Technologist
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Registered Orthopaedic Technologist provides casting and allied services to inpatients and outpatients. Duties include: ordering supplies for the Orthopaedic Clinic; maintaining equipment on the traction carts in the Surgical Suite, SPD and 6M; educating patients and their families on cast care with follow up assessments; participating in CQI; other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologist Certification;
* Current registration with the CSOT;
* current B.C.L.S. Ontario Heart Foundation Standards;
* demonstrated understanding of anatomical structures and relationships with one another and the ability to describe orthopaedic conditions;
* ability to apply, adjust and remove all common orthopaedic devices;
* demonstrated knowledge of the theory and application of skin and skeletal traction;
* knowledge of aseptic techniques;
* ability to interpret simple fractures and dislocations on x-ray film;
* demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health’s comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety, and participates in regular in-service education in this area;
* demonstrated effective communication, organizational and interpersonal skills;
* demonstrated ability to use office equipment including computers, intercoms, telephones and fax machines; and
* physically capable of performing all aspects of the Registered Orthopaedic Technologist’s duties.
SALARY: $26.19 – $30.16 per hour
