Main Purpose of the Job:
To provide effective and efficient general programme management and
technical support services for the smooth running of the East African
Community Medicines Regulatory Harmonization Initiative (EACMRHI) Project
and also assist the various EAC regional health projects and programmes as
may be assigned from time to time;
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide general programme management and technical support services
to the East African Community Medicines Regulatory Harmonization
Initiative (EACMRHI) Project and also assist the various EAC regional
health projects and programmes as may be assigned from time to time;
2. Assist in the organization and facilitation of internal and external
meetings, training courses, seminars, conferences, field visits, workshops
and events in liaison with the relevant professional staff of the East
African Community Medicines Regulatory Harmonization Initiative
(EACMRHI) Project and also assist the various EAC regional health
projects and programmes as may be assigned from time to time;
3. Assist in the development and preparation of integrated results oriented
annual work plans and other organization-wide activities (setting
objectives, developing strategies, budgeting, developing policies and
procedures, and organizing the functions necessary to accomplish the
activities) in support of the implementation of the East African
Community Medicines Regulatory Harmonization Initiative (EACMRHI)
Project and also assist the various EAC regional health projects and
programmes as may be assigned from time to time;
4. Facilitate the writing and compilation of various technical and
administrative reports relevant to the East African Community Medicines
Regulatory Harmonization Initiative (EACMRHI) Project and also assist
the various EAC regional health projects and programmes as may be
assigned from time to time;
5. Type memos, letters, reports and other documents as may be required.
6. Arrange meetings, take and prepare meeting minutes, draft letters.
7. Assist to coordinate and facilitate joint activities of the EAC Partner
States’ National Medicines Regulatory Authorities (NMRAs) and various
National Pharmaceutical Professional Boards, Councils, Associations and
Societies and related international collaborating bodies and partners,.
8. Assist to coordinate operational research, monitoring and evaluation of
the East African Community Medicines Regulatory Harmonization
Initiative (EACMRHI) Project in liaison with the National Medicines
Regulatory Authorities (NMRAs) and also assist the various EAC regional
health projects and programmes as may be assigned from time to time;
9. Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualification and Experience:
(1) Must have a basic Certificate or Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology
from a recognized medical or health training institution;
(2) Must be enrolled and/or registered and licensed to practice as a
Pharmaceutical Technologist or Technician by a Competent National
Medicines or Pharmaceutical Regulatory Authority in any of the East
African Community Partner States;
(3) Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma in Project Management is useful,
(4) Relevant working experience of at least three (3) years at district or
national level especially in the field of medicines registration and
regulation in the EAC Partner States or relevant regional or international
organization;
(5) Demonstrated work experience of at least two (2) years in the
implementation of national, regional or international donor-supported
development projects or programmes in a health related field.
Skills and Competences:
A Self driven individual with ability to work under minimal supervision, good
computer skills, excellent communication, presentation and inter-personal
skills.
TERMS AND CONDITION OF SERVICE
This EAC regional level health sector project staff position has an initial three year
contract that may be renewed subject to satisfactory performance and
availability of donor funds. This position will be subjected to the EAC quota
system.
