Who we are
Oxfam is an International NGO working with others to find lasting solutions to poverty and suffering in Tanzania and more than 80 other countries worldwide. In Tanzania Oxfam is working in Shinyanga, Dodoma, Morogoro, Tanga, manyara and Arusha to implement three change goals that have been identified in the country strategy for 2010/2015, namely Economic Justice – Rural Livelihoods (including smallholder, pastoralist and women’s livelihoods), Gender Justice – equality for women and Social Justice centred in active citizenship and effective governance for quality essential services.
We are currently looking for a dynamic and knowledgeable a Funding Coordinator to enhance the impact of our work in Tanzania.
The role
Reporting to Associate Country Director, you will be responsible in leading, updating and maintenance and delivery of the Tanzania funding strategy to enable the full delivery of a programme in line with the Tanzania Joint Country Analysis and Strategy and annual operating plans. Develop funding strategy for Tanzania’s programmes and manage existing significant funding processes, manage donor contracts, support the development of long term quality proposals and seek multi- year funding from potential donors whenever possible. Providing a consistency in relationships with institutional donors, supporting programme team in planning and managing restricted funds, continuously work on establishing relationships with existing and new donors. Lead in securing restricted funding from existing donors and new donors provide updates on guidelines and procedures and work closely with programme managers and coordinators to ensure greatest use of restricted funds. Strengthen the capacity of colleagues across the country in the planning, securing and management of restricted funds through workshops, material development and accompaniment.
The person
A candidate envisaged for this role will have a significant experience based skills in planning, securing, and managing funds and have an Understanding and experience of working with institutional donors such as SIDA, EC, DFID and UN. Excellent in documentation and writing skills with ability to produce clear and timely written proposals and reports. Experience of working in the field and understanding of programme issues and knowledge on project management tools, numeracy, budgetary and financial skills. Demonstrate a commitment to gender and diversity issues. Possess sound skills in capacity building in relation to fundraising and programme management. Self motivated, target – driven and an entrepreneurial approach to fundraising opportunities.
