Overall Responsibility:
You will assist the Senior Program Officer for Research in overall planning for the annual national assessment. You will assist the SPO –R in recruiting credible partners and preparing their database. You will assist in organizing training for various levels and ensuring that all logistical aspects are taken care of.
Specific Responsibilities
1. Assist SPO-R to plan for the annual national assessment by ensuring that the assessment tools, tests and manuals for trainers and volunteers are developed in adherence with the Uwezo standards;
2. Assist SPO in identifying credible district partners who will undertake the Uwezo assessment in districts. Ensure that partner’s carryout their tasks in accordance with the Uwezo timeline and meet the Uwezo standards;
3. Develop and Manage the data bank; ensure that proper records are kept of the partners, volunteers and other entities engaged with during the research;
4. Track the process of assessment to ensure that all the district partners receive all the material on time; assessment is done on the days agreed upon; data books are returned to Uwezo and agreed date. Keep track of all the data books from the time they are sent to the field to the time they are dispatched for data entry;
5. Maintain close contact with district partners during the assessment period and address any issue arising in consultation with SPO-R;
6. Assist the SPO-R in managing the data processes, from data entry, data cleaning, data analysis and writing of reports;
7. Assist SPO-R in documenting the Uwezo processes and preparing report on each activity carried out.
General Responsibilities
• Conduct occasional research and writing assignments on Uwezo in diverse ways supportive to program goals, including internal learning, policy debates, opinion articles;
• Participate in other Uwezo processes (communication);
• Undertake the activities above in line with the associated budgets and work plans, in ways that are consistent with Twaweza policies;
• Prepare and submit quality and timely plans, budgets and reports;
• Keep abreast of new ideas and materials in the area of organizational learning, M&E and communications;
• Participate in meetings and sessions as needed;
• Undertake any other lawful tasks as may be assigned by your manager or the Head of Twaweza.
Core Qualifications
• A university degree, preferably a master’s degree;
• At least three years’ experience related to your responsibilities;
• Very good writing skills in English and Kiswahili, with keen attention to detail;
• Good basic knowledge of development and education issues;
• Strong computer skills and use of database and internet;
• Excellent organizational, reporting and management skills;
• Very good time management skills.
