Each year Tzedek sends a group of enthusiastic volunteers to valuable work in some of the world’s poorest communities. These volunteers return to the UK and participate in Tzedek’s UK work for a further 10 months – for a minimum of 20 hours over the year.
In 2011 there will be two programmes taking place: one in Tamale, Northern Ghana, and one in West Bengal, India. Volunteers are between 19-26, and will also need to be free for the orientation weekend before departure in mid June.

Volunteers are placed at host organisations for two months, working with the NGO’s local staff, learning about and contributing to ongoing development projects. Work can vary from teaching, to assisting with funding applications, to administrative and office work, as well as opportunities to visit projects in more rural communities.

This year there will be the opportunity to work as a Football Coach in Ghana this summer – we’ve teamed up with Arsenal Football Club to offer a coaching course to those working overseas.
To fulfill the Jewish obligation of tikkun olam (healing the world), providing a clear ohr la’goyim (light unto the nations) about everyone’s right to Tzedek (justice).
