Position
Summary
IREX
seeks a Chief of Party to direct an anticipated USAID-funded Cash Transfer
Program in Tanzania. The purpose of this project is to provide cash transfers
to young girls to address their heightened vulnerability to HIV infection. The
Chief of Party is the senior leadership position with overall responsibility
for meeting program objectives.
The
position is contingent on funding.
Duties
& Responsibilities
  • Provide
    vision and strategic direction for the program
  • Develop
    and implement a plan of activities to meet program objectives
  • Develop
    and maintain effective partnerships with local civil society and media
    organizations
  • Serve
    as primary liaison with the donor
  • Coordinate
    with local, regional and international organizations active in the civil
    society and media sectors
  • Manage
    and mentor project staff
  • Coordinate
    with home office
  • Oversee
    project budgeting and ensure budget discipline
  • Oversee
    monitoring, evaluation and reporting on program activities
Qualifications
  • Minimum
    of 8 years of progressive management experience on similar HIV/AIDS
    prevention programs targeting youth.
  • Master’s
    degree in Development Management, International Relations, International
    Development, Child Welfare, or other relevant field of study
  • Technical
    experience relating to youth livelihoods, child welfare, human capital
    development,, HIV/AIDS prevention, and cash transfer programming.
  • Experience
    mentoring local staff and organizations and transferring skills and
    knowledge.
  • Experience
    working in civil society in Tanzania or the region strongly preferred.
  • Experience
    managing USAID projects as Chief of Party preferred.
  • Demonstrated
    capabilities in developing excellent collaborative working relationships
    with counterparts, international organizations, and donors strongly
    preferred.
  • Demonstrated
    ability to lead and develop staff, manage budgets and plan strategically
    and creatively to meet specified objectives.
  • Strong
    representational and organizational skills required.
  • Ability
    to function professionally and effectively in verbal and written English
    required. Kiswahili language skills a plus.
