The National Drug Authority (NDA) is
an autonomous body which was established by the National Drug Policy and
Authority Act Cap 206 , Laws of Uganda (2000 Edition) to regulate Human and
Veterinary Medicines and other healthcare products. NDA’s mandate is to ensure
quality, safety and efficacy of human and veterinary medicines and other
healthcare products through the regulation and control of their production,
importation, distribution and use.

Operating Procedures (SOPs) and record the raw data results on analytical
worksheets and in the laboratory collection software system.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare
medical device samples prior to testing and fill records and log books. - Write
test reports following each sample testing, and complete Analysis Request
Forms. - Carry
out preventive maintenance of the condom/glove testing equipment and other
equipment available. - Actively
participate in writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). - Test
samples for intra-laboratory (organized by NDA) and international
inter-laboratory proficiency testing trials. - Perform
test-method optimization and/or validation of analytical test methods for
different medical device products. - Ensure
safe custody of laboratory equipment and supplies. - Work
closely with other staff members within the department regarding issues
related to the testing of samples. - Ensure
that all the required equipment, chemicals and reagents, reference
materials, books and other appropriate literature are appropriately
handled and as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). - Perform
any other duties assigned by the Supervisor from time to time
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience:
Skills and Experience:
- The
applicant must hold an Ordinary Diploma in Pharmacy or Laboratory
Technology from a recognized institution. - Past
experience in the use of computerized and automated medical device testing
equipment. - Possession
of a Bachelor’s degree in the above mentioned fields - Hands-on
experience in testing of medical devices, such as male latex condoms and
medical gloves
