Program
Overview
Pathfinder is
seeking a Director, Family Planning Service Delivery for the Uganda Expanding
Family Planning Options program. The USAID’s Expanding Family Planning Options
program will focus on increasing FP service options and improving quality of FP
services in the public and private sectors as well as building demand for
modern contraception. This activity will be complemented by linkages to and
coordination with other USAID/Uganda activities including health communications
and systems strengthening activities as well as contraceptive commodity
procurement.
Position Purpose
This Director,
Family Planning Service Delivery will directly assist the COP in the design,
implementation, and monitoring of high impact family planning interventions as
highlighted in the Activity Description.
Key
Responsibilities
- Leads
the development and implementation of strategies for improving the access
of communities to FP services and information. - Prepares
work plans, training programs and budget and quarterly reports. - Provides
technical guidance for planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating
FP activities for the accomplishment of project objectives. - Develops
and maintains a cohesive and effective FP service delivery team. - Liaises
with the outreach programs teams to ensure linkages of clinical and
community FP services - Monitors
progress to ensure that goals and objectives are achieved. - Initiates
and nurtures partnerships with new and existing stakeholders/partners. - Manages
close collaborative relationships with host country agencies, including
central and local government, development partners, civil society, and
community-based organizations. - Supports
the establishment and expansion of innovative and effective interventions
among most-at-risk groups and in high transmission areas. - Leads
the preparation of quarterly and annual progress reports. - Other
responsibilities as assigned by the Chief of Party.
Basic
Requirements
- Medical
or Master’s Degree with three (3) years of experience (in addition to the
below requirement of 5 years), in public health or a related field; OR a
Bachelor’s Degree with five (5) years of experience (in addition to the
below requirement of five (5) years), in health related field; - Minimum
of five (5) years of progressively increasing responsibility working for a
FP/RH service delivery and technical assistance program. Clinical
experience preferred; - Experience
interacting with host country agencies, including central and local
government, development partners, civil society, and community-based
organizations is essential; - Minimum
of six years of successful supervisory experience; - Experience
with integration of gender into health projects and services; - Experience
and expertise in designing and implementing successful facility and
community based integrated FP services; - Excellent
representational and communication skills, written and oral proficiency in
English, and verbal communication skills in one or more local languages; - Demonstrated
ability to lead a project team and achieve results; - Travel
throughout the project area in Uganda and to the US will be required.
