Position Summary
We are looking for an outstanding and experienced Team Leader in Malawi to work on new and potential programmes on sexual, reproductive, maternal, and child health; family planning ; social marketing and other forms of private sector engagement; health systems strengthening; gender; research; health administration; public health; and/or related issues.

Key Responsibilities
• Provides senior leadership, management oversight, and coordination for new and potential Malawi programmes.
• Provides senior-level content knowledge, technical assistance, consultation, and support for the development, execution, and monitoring of programme-specific strategies.
• Manages technical and operational staff and coordinates with implementing partners.
• Liaises with donors, the government, and other key stakeholders.
• Leads, reviews, and monitors programmatic functions, e.g., development of work plans and budgets.
• Ensures quality of services and compliance per donor and programme requirements.
• Provides analytical and evaluative techniques to identify, consider, and resolve issues or problems.
• Participates in development of and/or prepares necessary programme-related reports, presentations, and deliverables.

Qualifications
• At least 15 years of experience of leading large-scale government or DFID, European Union, USAID, KfW, World Bank, and other donor-funded health programmes ;
• Demonstrated experience working with government, private sector, and nongovernmental health sector partners in Malawi, at national and decentralised levels;
• Deep understanding of health market dynamics and the health system in Malawi and ability to draw on other regional and/or international best practices;
• Strong technical grasp of one or more of the following: sexual and reproductive health issues, family planning , maternal and child health, social marketing and other forms of private sector engagement, health systems strengthening, social development , gender and other social determinants of poor health, especially amongst poorer women and girls, research, health administration, public health, related sectors that affect health, and/or reaching underserved populations;
• Excellent strategic, analytical, personnel, problem solving, and project management skills;
• Strong results orientation and commitment to accountability and value for money;
• Demonstrates strong personal qualities, including integrity, commitment to excellence, equality, openness, inclusiveness, and collegiality;
• Excellent written and spoken English required, local languages are a distinct advantage; and
• Advanced degree/s in relevant disciplines preferred.
