Specialist – US Embassy – Lilongwe

The US Embassy in Lilongwe has an immediate vacancy for the position of Human
Resource Specialist, The incumbent serves as the
principal assistant to the
Management Officer and is responsible for the supervision and performance of
the full range of Human Resources (HR) functions performed at Post for US
Direct-Hire (USDH) Employees and Locally Employed (LE) Staff of Department of
Defence (DOD) and Millennium Challenge Cooperation (MCC). Duties include
recruitment and appointment of LE Staff and EFMs, preparation of all types of
personnel actions, position classification, and management of salary and
benefits packages and surveys.  Incumbent supervises two HR Assistants and
one HR Clerk.

Completion of secondary school, Possession of a collegiate degree in Human
Resources/Personnel Administration or Administrative Management or 3 to 4 yrs
of equivalent work experience is required.  From 5 to 7 yrs of
progressively responsible experience in the field of Human Resources/Personnel
Administration, Normally the full 7 yrs of experience will be required, Strong
working knowledge of applicable Human Resources/Personnel Management
regulations and procedures, and local labor laws and practices, A strong
working knowledge  of Compensation regulation and guidance, Knowledge of
local labour laws and prevailing practices and customs as they apply to
employment compensation, health insurance, pension schemes and retirement is
required, Demonstrated ability to counsel employees and supervisors on work
related problems, Solid managerial skill, professional personality which
inspires confidence in Locally Employed and other Staff and enhances good
working
 relationship with employees and supervisors throughout the Mission, Level
II typing skills and strong computer literacy are required, Fluency in written
and spoken English and good working  k knowledge of written and spoken
Chichewa
