Executive Director –
Management International, Area 47, Sector 5 – Lilongwe

Reporting to a board
of Commissioners, the incumbent is expected to direct and manage the multi
sectoral approach to the fight against HIV and AIDS, working with a variety of
stakeholders on various programmes and interventions,

Ensure the highest
possible standards of governance and public accountability for the utilisation
and stewardship of the resources made available to the Commission, Coordinate
the activities of the NAC in implementing the National Strategic Plan, Provide
overall direction and guidance on a range of issues relating to HIV and AIDS to
NAC and other stakeholders, Lead and coordinate the development of appropriate
policies, strategies and plans for consideration and approval of the
Commission, Mobilise and manage resources, Liaise with other stakeholders in
facilitating and coordination HIV and AIDS activities, Represent the NAC at
conferences and similar gathering

Have at least a
Masters Degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Epidemiology or other
relevant equivalent qualification, Have over 10 yrs progressive Post Graduate
Management experience at senior level in large organisation with a focus on
issues related to HIV and AIDS, Have an in depth knowledge of the issues and
implications of the HIV and AIDS pandemic both locally and internationally,
Have planning and project management skills, coupled with strong organisational
skills and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, Have experience leading
high level policy development in a complex multi-sectoral environment, including
developing partnerships with external development partners and NGOS, Be an
optimistic and determined individual able to meet, resolve and overcome
inevitable challenges facing the Commission in achieving its goals and
objectives, Ability to work under pressure, Have excellent interpersonal, team
building and leadership skills, Be able to inspire trust, confidence and
respect of others, Be able to acknowledge and value the contribution of others,
Be an effective communicator, flexible and responsible strategic thinker with
the ability to conceptualise and articulate high level policy decisions and
translate them into clear strategic direction, Be able to empower, delegate and
provide support to subordinates, Have a clear understanding of the
socio-economic fabric of the country, Proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Word,
Excel and Access) and Have a verifiable results-oriented track record that
includes experience in sound financial management
