Linkages Director, MalawiWe are currently seeking a long-term Market Linkages
Director for an upcoming USAID-funded Agriculture Diversification for Incomes
and Nutrition activity in Malawi. The project will increase the competitiveness
of high-value, nutrient-rich value chains through support for agricultural
enterprises and incre
ased access to markets and finance. The targeted value
chains are groundnut, soy, and orange-fleshed sweet potato.
With
domestic, regional, and international demand for these value chains growing,
there are opportunities for smallholder farmers to diversify and increase their
incomes, and for agricultural small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to develop
and grow. The development of the targeted value chains also explicitly
integrates nutrition and is expected to improve nutritional outcomes for
targeted populations

Responsibilities
- Develop
the capacity of producers and SMEs in Malawi to identify and respond to
domestic, regional and international business opportunities in target
value chains. - Facilitate
the development of inclusive supply chains linking producers to value
added markets in Malawi and the region. - Scale-up
commercially viable post-harvest handling and storage technologies and
practices that ensure food safety and quality and limit post-harvest
deterioration. - Facilitate
private sector investment in supply chain infrastructure, including but
not limited to grain storage facilities. - Improve
the commercial viability of market information platforms, and ensure
equitable access to information by men, women and youths.
Qualifications
- M.
S. , M. B. A. , or other post-graduate degree in finance, business
administration or other relevant field. - Minimum
of 10 years of relevant and progressive work experience in developing
countries, preferably in the area of access to finance, and/or
agricultural trade and investment. - Proven
knowledge of finance and investment for entrepreneurs and SMEs in Southern
Africa. - Excellent
communication skills for a wide audience of stakeholders. - Fluent
English skills required.
