The International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH), www.go2itech.org, based at the University of Washington was established in 2002 by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). I-TECH has been working in Botswana since 2004 in partnership with US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Global AIDS Program (CDC-Botswana), the Botswana Ministry of Health (MOH), the Ministry of Local Government (MLG), and the University of Botswana (UB), to build capacity for
addressing Botswana’s HIV/AIDS epidemic.

The following job opportunity has arisen within I-TECH Botswana – Ministry of Health (MOH) – Botswana
National TB Programme (BNTP).

Senior Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist

This position is seconded to the MOH National TB Program to assist with the collection and utilization of TB-related data of national scope for the purpose of effective, efficient, and harmonized health planning , monitoring, and evaluation to meet the national health goals and objectives. This position is based in Botswana Ministry of Health in Gaborone, Botswana.

General Roles and Responsibilities include:
• Under the leadership of the MOH BNTP Director, provides guidance and strategic direction for TB data systems to optimize collection and utilization procedures.
• Conducts assessments of the health informatics environments, synthesizes pertinent information, and identifies implications for planning and development
• Contributes to the planning, development, and implementation of data systems, products and services to integrate national data collection systems and ensure data quality, security, utilization, and harmonization.
• Acts as a mentor to MOH staff and identifies relevant trainings to further build capacity with the BNTP.
• Ensures coordination in data systems planning, development, and implementation between the MOH Departments, units, and appropriate external organizations.
• Provides advice on appropriate research methods and procedures, conducts research, and assists BNTP to disseminate findings.
• Coordinates the preparation of progress and annual reports and ensures their timely distribution to stakeholders.
• Performs other reasonable duties as assigned by the management.

Required Qualifications:
• Advanced Degree in Medicine, Epidemiology, Health Information Management or Public Health or related field (strong background in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or M&E).
• At least 7 years working experience in any relevant field.
• Experience working in an international setting at the National-level on health programs with extensive knowledge of and experience with data collection and utilization.
• Experience working with TB programmes.
• Managerial experience in a setting involving the use of health information.
• Ability to analyze and asses needs related to health data systems and training.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
